Ted A Pawtobiography by Ted the Dog is a light-hearted ‘sniff and tell’ from the characterful canine in the hit BBC show Gone Fishing.
If you’ve watched Gone Fishing with Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer, you’ll be aware of a rascally four-legged hound that often makes an appearance. He’s a gruff, bark-it-how-it-is type who’s also on the lookout for his missing briefcase.
“This is the story of how I went from homeless and boneless to famous and fearless. Nearly every word of this is true.”
Ted A Pawtobiography by Ted the Dog is a wonderfully entertaining biopic about Ted’s adventures before and during Gone Fishing. It begins when he was purchased as a surprise Christmas present and then dumped in the New Year. We discover what happened during his time spent in a rescue centre and then landing on his paws at his forever home.
Ted might have told his story to Lisa Clark but I detected the writing style of Bob Mortimer in this. If you’ve read The Satsuma Complex or The Hotel Avocado, maybe you agree? I certainly picked up echoes of the same humour. Or maybe it’s because Ted and Bob spend so much time on the riverbank together. Who knows?
Ted A Pawtobiography is very funny. It’s quick to read, light-hearted and something a little bit different. I’m a big fan of Gone Fishing and I love dogs, and if you’re the same why not give this a go. You’ll also get to discover the story behind the missing briefcase.
