I’m thrilled to announce that my second contemporary fiction novel, Saving Elora, is shortlisted in The Wishing Shelf Book Awards Adult Fiction category.
What are The Wishing Shelf Book Awards?
The Wishing Shelf Book Awards were set up by UK-based children’s author Bill Bob Buttons (real name is Edward Trayer). They offer independently published authors an opportunity to feel involved and to know that all the books entered are judged thoroughly. These book awards are ranked as excellent by ALLi (Alliance of Independent Authors).
The children’s books were read and judged by children in eight UK primary and secondary schools. The adult books were read and judged by two reading groups – one in the UK and one in Sweden. The books were all marked according to editing, theme, style and cover. And, in the case of many of the children’s books, illustrations.
When are The Wishing Shelf Book Awards winners announced?
The winners will be announced in April so keep your fingers crossed for me. Good luck to all my fellow finalists and click here to find out all about the books the judges thoroughly recommend.
What is Saving Elora About?
For those of you who don’t know, Saving Elora is the follow up to Apokeri Bay and picks up ten years after the first novel. Time has moved on but Anna is still living a lie. However, when unexpected and unwanted visitors come calling they threaten to destroy everything.
Get ready for an emotional and explosive action-packed sequel. In Saving Elora, discover what sacrifices people are willing to make for love, the power of forgiveness and the possibility of second chances. Click here to find out more.
What does being a finalist mean to me?
I was inspired to write my Greece-based Apokeri Bay series after a recurring dream, so having Saving Elora selected as a finalist by the Wishing Shelf Awards is a dream come true. To have your story recognised by a panel of judges against stiff competition is amazing.
I must also thank my ‘Apokeri Bay series’ team for their expertise and in helping me become a finalist – Debs Southwood and her team at Wigwam Studios; my amazing editor Manda Waller; the eagle-eyes of proof reader Claire Hall and medical fact checking by Nicola Huggins.
